Privacy Policy

Local Lagniappe (locallagniappe.com) is operated by A Little Extra LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. We try to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

Newsletter. If you sign up, we collect your email address. We use double opt-in: you won't receive the newsletter until you confirm by clicking the link we email you. We use your address only to send the newsletter and related messages about it.

Venue submissions. If you submit a venue through our "List your venue" form, we collect the business details you provide and your contact information (such as name, email, and phone) so we can verify the listing and follow up with you.

Error reports. If you report an error on a listing, we collect your message and, if you choose to provide it, your email address so we can follow up.

Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. We also count listing views and clicks in aggregate to understand which venues people find useful.

Technical data. Like most websites, our servers process information such as your IP address, browser type, and request details. We use this to deliver the site, prevent abuse (for example, rate limiting forms), and keep the site secure. We do not use it to identify you or build a profile of you.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies we set are strictly necessary ones used for sign-in by site administrators. If you choose to load a Google Map on a listing, Google may set its own cookies; see "How we share information." If this changes, for example if we add advertising, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed for them to do so:

• •  Vercel for website hosting, file storage, and analytics
• •  Neon for our database
• •  Resend for sending email
• •  Google Maps — if you click "Show map" on a listing, the map loads from Google, which receives your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The map does not load unless you click.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or ourselves.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter email addresses until you unsubscribe. We keep venue submissions and error reports as long as needed to handle them and maintain accurate listings. We delete or anonymize information when we no longer need it.

Your choices and rights

• •  Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link at the bottom of any email.
• •  Access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello@locallagniappe.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We honor these requests for everyone, regardless of where you live.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Many listings involve alcohol, which is for adults of legal drinking age only.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If we make significant changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers.
